ARCADEFORGE / SELECTION GUIDE

Which interface fits your setup?

Start with your video source and the device you want to play on. Compare the connection paths below and see when Pi2Jamma Premium fits your cabinet.

01 / IN AN ARCADE CABINET

Raspberry Pi to a JAMMA cabinet

Raspberry PiPi2JammaJAMMA cabinet

Pi2Jamma v2 Pro or Premium connects video, controls and amplified audio to a suitable cabinet. Both provide native 15 kHz RGB output and direct GPIO controls.

You need a suitable 15 kHz RGB monitor, matching JAMMA wiring and an image for your Pi model. Premium adds RGB level adjustment and extra connections.

02 / ON A CRT TELEVISION

Raspberry Pi to RGB SCART

Pi GPIOPi2SCARTRGB SCART TV

Pi2SCART sits directly on the GPIO header and outputs native 15 kHz RGB through SCART. Stereo sound reaches the board through the separate audio cable.

Your television must support RGB over SCART. You also need software configured for Pi2SCART and your Pi model. Plan your controllers separately.

03 / AN EXISTING RGBHV SOURCE

15 kHz RGBHV to RGB SCART

15 kHz RGBHVUMSARGB SCART TV

UMSA combines sync from a suitable RGBHV source and outputs RGBS through SCART. Your source must already be configured for 15 kHz.

Plan a regulated 5 V supply and the appropriate video and audio cables. Audio enters separately through RCA inputs. UMSA cannot convert standard 31 kHz VGA output to 15 kHz.

04 / PROCESSING RGB SCART

RGB SCART to a scaler or monitor

RGB SCARTSync Strike15 kHz capable device

Sync Strike processes sync using an LM1881. RGB and sync are available for suitable downstream equipment; stereo audio can be taken from the RCA outputs.

Your monitor or scaler must accept the actual 15 kHz signals and their levels. Sync Strike preserves the horizontal scan frequency. Power comes from an external regulated 5 V supply or a suitable SCART source.

SAME CONNECTION PATH / DIFFERENT FEATURES

Pi2Jamma Pro or Premium?

Both connect a supported Raspberry Pi to a suitable JAMMA cabinet: native 15 kHz RGB output, direct GPIO controls with up to six buttons per player, and audio amplification with volume adjustment.

Pro: the core JAMMA connection

Fits a suitable cabinet when you want to connect video, audio and controls through matching wiring.

  • Integrated video and audio amplifiers
  • Direct GPIO controls
  • Wire additional buttons to match your setup

Premium: more cabinet adjustment

Fits setups where you want to adjust RGB levels or use extra connections.

  • Adjustable RGB levels
  • CPS2 kick harness for buttons 4, 5 and 6
  • Switchable CHAMMA button 6 pin mapping
  • Additional video and GPIO headers

With CHAMMA enabled, button 6 uses JAMMA pins 27/e. Enable this pinout only with matching cabinet wiring; these pins must then be disconnected from ground.

Before you choose

Which Raspberry Pi models are described here?

Pi2Jamma and Pi2SCART are described here for Raspberry Pi 3B, 3B+ and 4, each with suitable software. A standard image is not automatically sufficient. Compatibility with other models is not promised here.

Can UMSA and Sync Strike replace each other?

The signal directions differ: UMSA takes 15 kHz RGBHV to RGB SCART. Sync Strike receives RGB SCART and processes sync for suitable downstream equipment.

Are all the cables and devices included?

Check the scope of delivery and selected options on the product page. Depending on the product and configuration, plan your Raspberry Pi, software, power supplies, controllers, television and signal cables separately.
